Greetings all,

We hope your school or organization will join us for the 2021 Young Men of Color Symposium, "Here We Stand: Cultivating Safe Spaces during Two Pandemics" on Saturday, April 24th via Zoom. The symposium will start promptly at 10am.

Young Men of Color Symposium is a leadership conference for young men of color in grades 6-12 in the New York City area and beyond. The day will feature opportunities for participants to explore their multiple identities and learn skills geared towards self-advocacy and community building. The goal of the event is to empower students to affect positive change in their lives and their communities, using newly acquired language and knowledge.

Our keynote speaker, Dr. Rodney Glasgow, founder and co-chair of the NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) and Head of School at Sandy Spring Friends School, will set the tone for the day, highlighting how we can understand our position within these two pandemics and how we can cultivate safety within our environments, and what we can do as we move toward the end of the year and the upcoming fall.

This year, we will run a special Adult Learner workshop focused on trauma informed care to help adults and caretakers support our students navigate these times.

Registration opens on Monday April 5th and will close on Thursday April 22nd. The cost for the symposium will allow an unlimited amount of your community members to participate. Please purchase your school’s or organization’s ticket on Eventbrite

  • Schools or organizations with enrollment under 500 students = $300

  • Schools or organizations with enrollment over 500 students = $700

After you register your school or organization, you will receive an email with instructions on how your community members can register to secure their individual tickets.

If the cost is a potential barrier to attend or if you have any other questions, please email Dwight Vidale: info@beyondfearllc.com

All my best,

Dwight (he/him)

In 2019, we organized and facilitated "Disrupting our Silence, Embracing our Complexities.” Check out the recap video of the NYC symposium !

In NYC, we’ve partnered with the (Re)Defining Power Conference, which provides young white men in grades 6-12 with language and understanding to work with their communities in the fight for racial justice and gender equity.
